Meet Our Event Planner

Francellies Otero, Crowne Meetings Director

 

Tell me about yourself. (Where are you from? Where did you attend school, etc?)
I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in International Tourism & Hospitality Management , I also received a minor degree in Events & Convention Planning at Universidad del Este (UNE), Puerto (2008). In addition, I completed a Master’s Degree in Leadership at Mid-America Christian University (MACU), Ok (2012).

How long have you been an event planner?
More than 10 years!

What inspired you to become an event planner?
I am inspired by the emotion of being a part of an important occasion/moment in someone’s life and helping the person or family in the process.I love seeing our great events’ successes!

What inspires you and your work when planning an event?
Making someone's dream come true is my greatest inspiration, and I take care of the event like is my personal dream. Making my clients happy, makes me happier.

What do you enjoy most about event planning?
I truly enjoy every moment of event planning, specifically meeting the people, discussing details, listening to ideas, giving options & suggestions to them, planning the events menu, and working hard with my team to make sure the event goes as perfectly as possible.

What is your most memorable moment planning an event at the Crowne Plaza Oklahoma City?
One of my most memorable moments was an Indian-Pakistan Wedding that I planned where the family engaged with me in a special way to ensure that the wedding would be a success. They invited me to be part of all the events, and it was great to see the event in action. I really enjoyed the event not ony as an event planner, but also as a guest. I learned about their culture, food & traditions. That experience exceeded my expectations. Now, they contact me for every event they are hosting in town in town and have even recommended me for their family and friends' events.

What is your favorite type of event to plan?
I love weddings!

What is your favorite part of working as an event planner?
The relationship that I develop with the client as well as seeing the client’s happiness & excitement before, during, and after the event.

Meet Our Chef

Chef Jesse Casillas

 

Tell me about yourself. (Where are you from? Where did you attend school, etc?)
I was born in Northridge, California, but grew up in Blackwell, Oklahoma. I attended Platt College for Culinary Arts where I graduated in 2013.

How long have you been a chef?
I have been cooking professionally for 3 years.

What inspired you to become a chef
My parents met at a restaurant that they both worked at years ago. I partially thank them for my passion for cooking. I also have a lot of great memories with my grandparents cooking for me when I was very little.

What inspires you while cooking?
I strive for excellence when I prepare food. Knowing that the dish I put out looks amazing, smells great, and tastes wonderful puts a smile on my face.

What do you enjoy most about being a chef?
I love seeing the reactions of the guests when they eat my food. Or getting the opportunity to go out and explain the dish to them as they eat and get feedback from them.

What is your most memorable moment as a chef at the Crowne Plaza Oklahoma City?
My most memorable experience of cooking for the hotel happened just last year. We had a group that had breakfast, lunch, and dinner in one day. I was here cooking for all three meals, and after their dinner was served I decided to go into the room and ask each individual how they were enjoying everything. Connie, who is the contact for the party, had me stand in front of the room and all of the guests and she introduced me as the chef who prepared the food. Everyone in the room gave me a round of applause because of how much they enjoyed everything!

What is your favorite type of event to cook for?
Receptions.

What is your favorite part of working as a chef?
I love being able to come in to work and create dishes that will make people happy!
